| Renowned director Rakesh Mehra says he has convinced Bollywood's First Family, the Bachchans (the megastar Amitabh, his wife Jaya and their son Abhishek), to star together in his ambitious new project Bhairavi.
"I have already narrated the story to Amitji (Amitabh) and Abhishek. They're on. I'm ready to make the film as soon as the dates have been worked out. One thing's for sure, Bhairavi has to be made only with Amitji, Abhishek and Jaya," he proclaims.
But Jaya is known to be extremely picky about projects and not too keen to act in the same movie as her husband and son. Will she agree?
"She has to! I'll go on a hunger strike until she agrees. Bhairavi must be made, preferably this very year," declares the director whose recent release was the blockbuster Rang De Basanti (A Generation Awakens) starring Aamir Khan and Alice Patten.
Rakesh, who directed, wrote and produced Rang De Basanti, had cast a motley crew of famous and less known faces in the movie about how a group of Delhi University students were radicalised after the death of a friend in the Indian air force.
But for his next project, Rakesh is pulling out all the stops to get the Bachchan clan on board. Bhairavi, set in the world of classical Indian music, deals with the themes of familial strife and competitive creativity. Rakesh intends to get the Bachchans to portray their real-life roles of husband, wife and son on screen.
While he waits for his dream project to take off, Rakesh may make Paanch Kaurav, a "mythical opus along the lines of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Lord of the Rings movies", or his autobiographical take, Delhi-6.
