It pays to be Chhota B. Literally. For one, films or no films, there are always the sundry endorsements to rake in the moolah. So while Amitabh Bachchan might be wilting under the IT Department’s acid glare, son Abhishek seems happy playing ambassador for a luxury watch brand.

The dark, brooding on-screen persona apart, Bachchan junior comes across as the ideal son, the perfect bachelor. Not a hint of rebellion, nor a word of controversy. Abhishek Bachchan is politically correct. Too much so.

You’ve been endorsing a lot of brands lately. After the Health Minister’s suggestion to stars on endorsing soft drinks, are you using any discretion?

I’m open to all sorts of brands provided I use them myself. I believe you shouldn’t be dishonest to consumers. As for soft drinks, I would never advertise for them as I have totally given up colas.

Is your family’s run-in with the IT Department the result of political vendetta?

It’s the duty of every citizen to pay his taxes. The department is just doing its job. The whole issue has been blown out of proportion by the media. Politics has got nothing to do with it.

What are your new projects?

I’m excited about Kabhie Alvida Naa Kehna. Then there’s Sarkar 2, Dhoom 2, Umrao Jaan and Mani Ratnam’s Guru. I’m also looking forward to shooting in old Delhi for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi6.

What’s you personal style statement? Are you brand savvy?

Not really. My mother still decides my clothes for me. Apart from that, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla do the designing for us.

Is marriage on the cards? What about the rumours of your link-up with Aishwarya Rai?

I’m not considering marriage as of now. As for the rumours, it’s very insensitive and undignified to talk of women in this fashion.
