Abhishek Bachchan has a new fan in the form of Mani Ratnam. Now that Mani's film 'Guru' is almost on the verge of being wrapped up, the filmmaker is all praise for Bachchan Junior.

"Abhishek was my first choice. I didn't want anybody else for the role. When I told him that, he agreed to do it without asking me a single question," says Mani. Abhishek has been a favourite of the filmmaker ever since the two worked together in 'Yuva'.

The story of Guru is about this controversial man for whom ambition is not a bad word. Abhishek plays a grey character which spans over 40 years. "His character inspires great love and great hatred," says Mani.

Abhishek plays a gamut of emotions in this "landmark of a role."
