| Dhoom 2 doing a black? With public all ga-ga over the high on adrenaline, slick flick, police is hot on trail of black-marketeers charging exorbitant amount for a ticket. Five people are said to have been arrested in the last three days.
Tremendous opening response to this Yash Raj production has sent cash registers of ticket black-marketeers ringing that too after a long gap.
Even at multiplex, tickets were reportedly sold for as high as Rs 500 on the weekend. Even on the fourth day of the movie, the rate in black was Rs 300 to Rs 400 against regular price of Rs 80.
“After a long time we have registered cases of tickets being sold in black. With a multiplex in the city and easy availability of CDs, black marketeers, at least for the last couple of years, were badly hit on the business front. But Dhoom-2 seems to have revived their dying enterprise,” said an official with DCB which caught two persons so far. On Sunday, a DCB constable arrested one Paresh Hapaliya on charges of black marketing outside Galaxy theatre and recovered six tickets from him for different shows on Sunday, 15 for shows on Monday, cash to the tune of Rs 2,420 and a diary containing his business account.
“On Sunday, tickets were sold for Rs 500 against regular rate of Rs 80, which is the highest rate in black we have come across,” said the official. The movie has also resurrected average theaters like Girnar, where today people flock to steal a dekko at the flick. With major actors in Dhoom-2 donning a new get-up, slick action sequences coupled with bold and beautiful look, youngsters can’t seem to be getting enough of it. Hence, they don’t mind thronging theatres and shelling out Rs 500.
“It has everything that was missing in Hindi movies so far. Special effects, heist theme, bold and beautiful characters. I do not mind spending extra bucks for it,” said Sundar Doshi, a movie buff who paid Rs 400 for a ticket.
