Bollywood made it’s presence felt in Los Angeles recently as the stars descended to attend a colourful extravaganza celebrating India’s 60 years of Independence.

The event hosted by business tycoon BK Modi, kickstarted with the screening of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Chak De India. But the toast of the event was the hottest couple of Bollywood, Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan.

The awesome twosome looked every bit the lovey-dovey couple that they are and seemed oblivious to the crowds around as they lovingly held hands and cootchie-cooed endlessly into each other’s ears.

The couple was there to attend a special screening of their film Guru along with filmmaker Mani Ratnam. But the still-on-honeymoon couple did manage to take some quality time off for themselves.

Soon after reaching LA, they headed to catch Rush Hour 3, followed by a romantic cosy dinner. The couple’s PDA was undoubtedly the talk of the town.

Also making their presence felt were the Kapoors. There wasn’t a dry eye at the screening of Bobby Bedi’s documentary Kehta Hai Joker — a moving tribute to Indian film legend, Raj Kapoor.

This special tribute was attended by Rishi, Neetu and the very dapper-looking Ranbir Kapoor, who made quite a few heads turn and was an instant hit with the crowds.

Adding to the glam quotient was Katrina Kaif and a fashion show extravaganza by designer Suneet Verma. Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Shimit Amin, Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley, spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and artist Bose Krishnamachari were among the others present.

The quirky director of Bombay Boys, Kaizad Gustad, too made a rare appearance. The event’s grand finale was a dazzling performance by Bollywood hottie Bipasha Basu.

The sexy actress charmed the audiences with her hot numbers and left them asking for more.

"The response we’ve been getting here is absolutely unbelievable. It’s very touching to see the kind of love and warmth they have for us," said Bipasha. And does she plan to do anything there, apart from garnering the love of her fans. "Oh loads of shopping!" she laughs.
