Bachchan, who recently saw the rushes of Sarkar Raj, has asked Ramu to re-shoot the scenes; delaying the film further

The latest buzz on Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj is that it will release only in September, and not May as scheduled. It is rumoured that Amitabh Bachchan, who recently saw the rushes, expressed displeasure over some of the climax scenes between himself and Abhishek and wants the scenes to be re-shot.


Bachchan is being extra cautious about the film as it is Abhishek’s first film after his marriage last year. Though Ramu has wrapped the final schedule for Sarkar Raj, Bachchan wants to make sure his demand is addressed.

Says a source in the industry, “Bachchan wants some
scenes, including the climax to be re-shot. After the debacle of Aag, he wants to take precautions. He feels Sarkar Raj is a very important film for Abhishek, as it will be his first release this year.

Bachchan has always been very protective about his beta’s career. In fact, Bachchan had even given dates to Ramu in February this year to re-shoot but Ramu didn’t use them as he feels the film is complete and doesn’t need any changes.”

This stalemate is holding up the film’s release. Both Ramu and Bachchan are being tight-lipped about the issue as they feel talking about it will harm the film’s prospects.

Amitabh Bachchan says, “I haven’t asked for any scenes to be re-shot. About the release date, I need to check with Ramu. I shall get back.”

After some time he messages back saying, “Ramu’s not reachable. It’s best you check with him. I am at work.”

When asked if he has asked Ramu to re-shoot the climax portions, he replies tersely, “It’s not true.” When asked if he saw the rushes of Sarkar Raaj and liked them, he didn’t reply back.

The film is being distributed by Ekta and Shobha Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. Ramesh Sippy from Balaji Telefilms says, “The only reason for the delay is the IPL matches. We had initially planned on a May 23 release, now we are looking at June 6. It won’t be advisable to release the film around the matches as the public would want to see them on television.”

Adding that all the post production work on the film is over he says, “We are ready for release. In fact we have the promos ready as well. We are having a meeting with Ramu and will take a call after that.”
