MUMBAI: Reliance Big Entertainment (RBE), the entertainment company owned by ADAG, is gearing up for its global launch during the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival.

The first of the many announcements expected from Cannes is Reliance Big Entertainment, which is joining hands with AB Corp, Amitabh Bachchan’s film production company. ADAG is believed to be picking up a significant stake in the company, though details are not available. An alliance with AB Corp will allow Reliance Big Entertainment to leverage the relationships with the industry that Mr Bachchan, his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya bring to the table.

For AB Corp, an alliance with Reliance Entertainment, if it materialises, will help the company in terms of funding as well as give it scale and a platform. A big delegation from Reliance Big Entertainment is expected to be in Cannes. The team may be headed by ADAG top honcho Amitabh Jhunjhunwala, and may include RBE head Rajesh Sawhney and Amit Khanna.

The move is not entirely unexpected, considering the strong personal relationship the younger Ambani shares with Mr Bachchan and his family. However, neither Mr Bachchan nor an ADAG spokesperson responded to ET’s queries. The deal is likely be in the region of Rs 200 crore.
