It’s an unlikely combination to promote a watch brand but Sonali Bendre and Abhishek Bachchan seem perfectly in sync as they met the media at The Maurya in Delhi. Bendre and Bachchan made a quick stopover in Delhi for Omega’s send off to the Indian Olympic team. Bendre is sporting a chic blunt cut and says she’s excited about husband Goldie Behl’s latest film, Drona, also starring close friend, junior Bachchan. “Fantasy and action are my favourite genres,” she gushes.

Bachchan has just flown in from Toronto, taking a break from the much-hyped Unforgettable Tour. “We’ve just completed the first leg of the tour. Now, we leave for Houston for the next leg. It’s been completely overwhelming seeing this adulation from fans all over the world. I’ve come close to being mobbed,” he recalls. Bachchan acknowledges that as far as films go, 2008 hasn’t been great for him. His last big release Sarkar Raj got a tepid response. Now, Bachchan has his hopes pinned on Drona. “On the website, the trailers to Drona have generated serious interest. The response has been fantastic,” he says. He plays a hero inspired from Indian mythology. He trained in various Indian martial arts like kalaripayattu and chhau for this role. Bachchan says he is happy with his look and the way his role turned out in Drona. And, of course, this movie marks the first time he’ll work alongside his mother. “With my dad, working is always fun but I enjoyed myself with my mom too,” he smiles.

About the Olympics, Bachchan says he’s praying for a medal for India. “My best wishes are with the Indian team. I request people not to pressure them and let them do their best,” he says. For now, its back to Houston and family.
