25 Sep 2008 | 220 Views | Saba

Trading the same path as his father, the Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan’s new venture 'Drona' is all set to hit silver screen soon. It is believed that Drona will be proved a milestone in his career. Samay's Executive Producer Sri Sanjay Bragta spoke to him about his film Drona, his identity beyond his father and the rumours that constantly hound his family.

Q: Can you speak Bengali?

A: No, no I can’t. My mother (Jaya Bachchan) speaks Bengali but I understand.

Q:People claims 'Dus' but your father has said it was 'Guru' who established you as an mature actor. What is your opinion?

A: There is no comparison with my father. Exactly, I did hard labour for the Guru and gained approx 12 kg weight for the role of Guru Kant Desai. It’s a compliment… He is my father and it is natural that he has an emotional attachment with my success. But I feel it is long way to go.

Q: What do you feel when media follows you? What is your opinion about media?

A: I always believe that media is a conscience of public and reporting is the responsibility of media. And they are doing their responsibilities in right manner. If any actor or celebrity complaints about media coverage than he/she should leave the profession because you are going to be a public figure and you will have to prepare for media attention.

Q: Your next venture is 'Pa' with your dad. What is difference between reel life and real life?

A: Balmiki has written the script of 'Pa' and shooting will start soon as we get date. There is different taste of reel life and real life. Both have different flavour but we have to do same preperations for every film whether it is with family memebrs or other actors.

Q: Now you will be seen with your mother in Drona? What do you feel?

A: Jayaji is playing my mother’s role in Drona and it was a pleasant experience. This is my third movie with my mother (Jaya). The first one was a Bengali movie 'Desh' directed by Raja Sen, second was Laga Chunari me Dagh and Drona is third. But I am still looking for a full length movie with her. We have did very hard labour for the film and hope people will appritiate our performance.

Q: Your father is frequently involved in writing blogs. Do you have any interests in it?

A: No, not initially. But when my father got good response than my friends advised me to write blogs, I think blog is a best medium to reach out your fans. And blog is the best medium to keep you in touch with your fans.

Q: Who is the father of IT in India?

A: There are several people… like Naraynmurthy.

Q: No, Do you consider Rajiv Gandhi as father of IT in India?

A: Yes, Rajiv uncle.

Q: It is believed that there are some differences between your family and Gandhi family?

A; No, not at all, all these rumours are spread by media. We have good relations with Gandhi family. I am an artists, who lives in Mumbai and their family is well known political figures of country. We have good relations with each other.

Q: You do feel that there is no problem between the two families?

A: No.

Q: Are you in touch with the Gandhis?

A: I haven’t been on telephonic conversation with them.

Q: Who is gadgets friendly in your family?

A: Dad and me.

Q: To whom you consider as best actor in new generation?

A: I believe dad is still best and number one.

Q: About your self?

A: Leave it on audiences.

Q: Tell us something about 'The last Lear'

A: I liked it very much. Acting for theater and acting for screen are two different style and art. It is very much difficult to play a theatrical character on screen and dad has did it in tremendous style.

Q: Do you consider 'The Last Lear as best performance of your dad?

A: I feel Dad's every next performance is better than the last one. Best is still to come.

Q: The world's Unforgettable tour was a business trip or anything else?

A: No, the last thing was the business. The motive behind this tour was to meet with our overseas fans. This is my first tour. We enjoyed it.
