Abhishek Bachchan will be celebrating his birthday (February 5) in New York. The actor is in NYC to attend the premiere of Pink Panther 2 and also to flag off the promotional campaign for Delhi-6.

A source reveals, "Abhishek is in New York to attend the premiere of Pink Panther 2 on February 3 along with Ash and his parents. Since he was going to be in the US, Delhi-6 director Rakeysh Mehra came up with the idea of kick-starting the promotion for Delhi-6 at the same time.

However, Mehra is busy with some pre-release formalities and will only join Abhishek on February 7 in London." Leading lady Sonam Kapoor will also join the team in UK.

Sources reveal that Mehra has planned a celebratory party for Abhishek in New York. "Even though he won't be present, he has made arrangements for the crew members to prepare for a party which will also flag off the promotional campaign for Delhi-6."

Interestingly, in the film, Abhishek's character Roshan also hails from America and travels to India with his grandmother. "The teaser poster of the film has the Statue of Liberty on one side and Jama Masjid on the other.

Hence, Mehra came up with the idea of first finishing off the promotion in the West and then coming home closer to the release date (Feb 20)."

This isn't the first time Abhishek would be away from home on his birthday. Last year, the actor was in Jaipur on the sets of Delhi 6, where his family flew in to join him in celebrating the big day.
