Two years ago on this day a certain Abhishek Bachchan married a certain Aishwarya Rai. The two celebrated their first anniversary together in Miami. This year they were supposed to be together in Kerala on the sets of Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. But now with Mani in hospital following “chest pain and breathing problem”, AbAsh may well celebrate the special day in Mumbai. We wouldn’t know for sure because Cub B is not ready to share his plans... [This interview took place before Mani was hospitalised.]

Any special plans for your second marriage anniversary?

An anniversary is always special for everyone but if I tell you my plans my wife would get angry. We will be working with Mani (Ratnam).

You are back in Mumbai and have attended two events in a few hours. Planning to set a record?

No, no. The record is seven cities in 11 hours (laughs). But it is a good suggestion... I’ll try it next time.

You recently launched Sonali and Roop Kumar Rathod’s new album. How did that happen?

They have always made good music individually and as a couple and I’m sure Mann Pasand is not going to disappoint. My congratulations are with the entire team and with the music label, who have been with me since my first film Refugee. I believe that as long as such good musicians are there in the industry they will keep music alive. To keep a certain heritage alive is very important, and Roopji and Sonaliji have always done a wonderful job of carrying the torch.

Personally what kind of music do you like to listen to?

I listen to all kinds of music. I think that is the wonderful thing about music — it is hard to choose just one genre. I can listen to Indian classical or Western classical or contemporary. Music which touches your heart is something that you should listen to.

Dostana was the high point for you last year. Is the sequel happening?

I do not know about that. Karan Johar has spoken to director Tarun Mansukhani (about the sequel to Dostana). But as far as I know, Tarun has been busy post-Dostana. So I don’t know.
