Amidst incessant flashes of the camera and numerous whispers emerged an extremely good-looking Abhishek Bachchan, looking like a true blue Bachchan in full black. AB Baby who was in town to promote Omega’s new watch played the perfect brand ambassador.
Ask him about Mani Ratnam’s much-talked about mega movie Raavan in which he stars opposite his wife Aishwarya and he says, “The experience of shooting with Mani Ratnam is great. We’re still shooting for it and in fact I’m going straight back to shoot for the movie now. We will finish shooting for the film by the end of October and it will be ready for release sometime next year. I’m very excited about it. It’s been a difficult film as it’s a demanding film for any actor. But that’s something you expect from Mani whenever you work with him.”
Abhishek is also taking on a big challenge by playing father to his own papa in R Balki’s Paa. Would he call it his most challenging role till date? “No actually Raavan has been the most challenging role. You will know why when you see it,” smiles AB who says that Paa was more of a fun experience.
Abhi-Ash recently made an appearance on Oprah in which he spoke about India and even family life.
“It was wonderful. Oprah is very sweet and was keen to learn about India and Indian culture. She was intrigued by it and we felt very honoured that she choose the two of us to represent our country. It was great ‘cos not everybody gets to go on Oprah and it was a matter of great pride.”
Amongst his huge list of movies lined up, Abhishek also has Rajeev Menon’s Abhimaan, a movie inspired by the older Abhimaan which starred his parents Amitabh and Jaya in the lead roles. Talking about his upcoming releases AB says, “Paa will be released on December 4. Then there’s Raavan which is being released next year. After that I will move on to Ashutosh Gowariker’s new film followed by another film for a new director called Abhinay Deo.”
The witty actor says that his connection with south India has grown stonger, thanks to Aishwarya who’s a Mangalorean. Ask him if he’s learnt any Tulu and he says, “I’ve learnt bega! I love Tulu food and my mom-in-law always makes amazing food. I’ve been to Mangalore with Ash and it’s a wonderful place. And coming down to Bengaluru is always a pleasant experience.” And he’s off to the airport bega bega!
