Heard this?? ‘Paa’, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan starrer flick which has them playing the characters of father and son in reverse order, is said to be inspired by Hollywood flicks ‘Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ and ‘Jack’.

Though the industry is abuzz with the talk of Big B’s character taking its inspiration from the above Hollywood biggies, the director of the film strongly denies the same. Balki, who has directed the ‘Paa’, vehemently denies any connection with Hollywood films and says that he got the inspiration from Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan themselves when he had gone for a meeting in their office.

On that day Balki saw a rare mature mood of Abhishek Bachchan, however, Big B was in a very good mood and behaving like a sweet kid.

It was at that point of time that Balki, who had already directed Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Cheeni Kum’ opposite Tabu, decided to make a film, but only after reversing the real life relationship of Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan. He wanted to cast Amitabh as son and Abhishek Bachchan as his father.

But convincing Amitabh Bachchan with the script was not all that easy. In fact, Bachchan rejected the first draft of script when Balki approached him for the flick. However, director did not lose heart and approached him after modifying and re-writing the entire script. This second script of the film got Amitabh Bachchan’s approval and the making of a great flick began.


However, Amitabh’s aura and larger than life persona was too much to be handled convincingly and shown as Abhishek’s son. Balki soon got the idea of progeria, through which Amitabh Bachchan became a child of 13 and a big person at the same time, and this solved Balki’s problem of hiding Big B’s overpowering personality into a young kid.

Even convincing Vidya Balan to play the character of Amitabh Bachchan’s mother was not easy and she agreed after much persuasion from director Balki. However, once Vidya understood the importance of her character, she was proud of playing mother to such a legendary personality on the celluloid.

‘Paa’ is a film about 13 –year-old progeric kid Auro, who ages faster than other normal kids of his age. Amitabh has essayed the character of Auro on celluloid, while Abhishek Bachchan plays his father who is a progressive politician.

The film has already created buzz among the audiences and is releasing worldwide on December 4.
