Abhishek Bachchan has turned 34 today. He feels overwhelmed with the tremendous response of his fans conveying their best wishes. Abhishek has left an indelible mark and has surpassed expectations of one and all despite being a megastar son.

As my mother explains it, she chose the name Abhishek, for her second born, and only son, because it means the anointing of a king or God- in her context it was Amitabh Abhishek- the crowning glory of her husband. At the hospital that day, there was an atmosphere of celebration- my father opened bottles of champagne, though it was strictly forbidden, and everyone, including the reluctant nurses imbibed and partook in the revelry.

"All that has been happening over the past few days is very unfortunate and sad. I believe that sports, arts and culture should be above politics. My family and I have faced many such incidents in the past. All I wish for is peace and harmony," Abhishek posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
