After the super success of his last film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Rajkumar Santoshi has managed to fulfill his long-standing dream of signing on both the Bachchans together. The director has signed Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan for his next film, Jisne Lahore Nahih Dekhoiya Woh Janmiya Hi Nahih. The film, which will tell the story of a Hindu family stuck in Lahore during the partition, is adapted from a famous play.

Santoshi reportedly narrated the subject to Bachchan Sr and he loved it. Amitabh will play the role of an old Hindu man stuck in Lahore after the partition is announced, while Abhishek will play a Muslim man who helps the old man stay in Lahore in such troubled times. While Santoshi initially wanted Salman to play Abhi’s role, he has decided to cast both the Bachchans together. The rest of the details are still being finalised. Santoshi met Bachchan at his office around 10 days ago to narrate the final draft of the script and now they are working on the dates and other details. If all goes well, the film might go on the floors around Diwali this year. Abhishek however, is facing a date problem since he will start the shooting of Rohan Sippy’s film after he is done with Abhinav Deo’s Crooked.
