Who is Mani’s favourite, Ash or you?

Me, by far. I am his boy, I am biased. The weird thing is he’s got a very friendly relationship with Aishwarya. They argue things out, they talk and he will ask her for advice. But with me it’s a very father-son kind of relationship. He knows me as an actor better than myself. He knows my potential, he knows my flaws.

Did you ever harass Vikram because his Hindi isn’t that great?
Beera and Dev don’t come face to face till the end. So he had most of his work in Hindi with Aishwarya. We only meet at the end when we are screaming and shouting at each other. But throughout the making of the film we were always together. Mani used to call us the ‘Raavan Club’. He would be like ‘Can you two please stop. Can we do some work?’, because we were always doing something.

What did your parents say after seeing the trailers?
They loved it. They liked that it is not something you see very often, it is a clutter breaker. They were extremely happy.

Have you ever gotten over the fact that Ash is so beautiful?
No. You can’t, she is just that beautiful. And it’s not just her physical beauty. When you get to know her as a person she is trillion times more beautiful than what she looks. She is always been someone who is very genuine. Even before we got married, she was very genuine and real.

We come with a lot of preconceived notions about her. But one is just astounded by the humility and how down to earth she is.

Who is the emotionally stronger one in the relationship: Ash or you?
The wonderful thing is that we equally bank on each other. We both know that we have somebody we both can rely on: each other. And everyone has their moments when one has to be stronger than the other. What’s wonderful in a marriage is that you have a soul mate that you can count on to be there.

Do you ever dream of being the future Amitabh-Jaya?
No, we don’t think like that. If you think like that then you are thinking of yourself as some major couple. We are a complete normal couple. We haven’t looked upon ourselves as celebrities. When we’re abroad, we are more than happy to go walking around the streets or sit on the roadside cafés. In India we don’t do that because we are so busy. We don’t take ourselves seriously at all.
