Led by Aishwarya and Abhishek, the stars shone bright at the science city auditorium on Saturday evening for Boroplus Anandalok Puraskar 2010.

Abhishek and Aishwarya won the Best Actor and Best Actress trophies for Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, an honour which meant a lot to the first couple of Bollywood. The two had, in fact, shot here in the city for a couple of important sequences of the film by the river. “Calcutta is always welcoming and we get such a warm response whenever we return to the city.

Colors is set to premiere Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Raavan on 1 August in India, US and UK.

The movie will be aired at 8 pm on Sunday in India and UK, while US viewers can watch the movie at 3 pm on Aapka Colors (Colors’ US version).

The box-office report of Raavan and Housefull is out there for everyone to see and infer what they want to. And when I say Raavan, I actually am talking about movies like Dil Se, Gulaal, Firaaq, Parzania etc; and when I say Housefull, I actually am referring to movies like Welcome, SiK, Kambakht Ishq etc. Obviously, these are movies of different genres but the one thing common is that, they were all on exhibition in theatres, multiplexes etc and we know the fate of all of these movies.

Pray, is this world for real?! A film by Mani ratnam is an experience of a lifetime. His politics might be a little wobbly at times.

That this film adapts from one of India’s favourite mythologies, The Ramayan, we know. That it would be so subtly subversive in challenging that mythology, even adding a surprise development, was the unexpected dessert after the hearty meal.

Reliance BIG Pictures and Madras Talkies' RAAVAN seems to have got an excellent opening at the box office. It has grossed Rs 20 crores worldwide on the opening day from its three versions- Hindi (RAAVAN), Tamil (RAAVANAN) and Telugu (VILLAIN).

Mani Ratnam's Raavan is an overwhelming film. At times a tad bit overproduced, the film is an onslaught of brilliant use of technology on the viewer's senses -- stunning cinematography, the fluidity of the camera, quick edits, loud soaring music, with the actors thrown into wild nature.
