Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her husband, Abhishek Bachchan, will appear on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” Sept. 28, a publicist for Harpo Productions told India-West from Chicago Sept. 21.

Rai and Bachchan reportedly taped the episode in Chicago in August.

This marks Rai’s second appearance on the show. The actress had previously appeared on the hit chat show in 2007, and helped Winfrey don a hot pink chiffon sari. During that first “Oprah” appearance,” Rai took the opportunity to debunk myths about India’s culture and the status of women there.

According to a news leak on an Indian Web site, during next week’s episode, the Bachchans will discuss “the importance of family values and martial bliss.”

Bachchan has often appeared on Rai’s arm at globally watched events such as the Cannes film festival, but he has been overlooked and upstaged by the glamorous star, whom Winfrey dubbed “the top movie star in the world.”

So although Rai’s second appearance on “Oprah” will give her an added publicity boost, the exposure will be doubly valuable to Bachchan.

The two recently wrapped shooting for “Raavan” for Mani Ratnam and are working together again in “Crooked,” a Hindi thriller.
