MUMBAI: A PC-based game on Yash Raj Films' 2006 blockbuster Dhoom:2 will be launched in the market by mid-April this year.
The game has been made on a budget of Rs 30 million (Rs 3 crores).
Hyderabad-based FX Labs has developed the game, which is tentatively titled D 2.5. All characters from the movie will be part of the game. The movie starred Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Bipasha Basu and Uday Singh.
When Dhoom became a hit, it came in for a lot of critical acclaim with detractors claiming that the film didn’t deserve the success it got because it didn’t really have a tight storyline. But the film’s sequel, Dhoom 2, proved to be even a bigger hit.
Although it is some time since the film released, the latest is that Dhoom 2 could be the biggest grosser of all time in Hindi films.
India's biggest money spinner of all times, DHOOM 2, would be completing 100 days at the box office this weekend.
After taking a historic opening at the ticket counters by leaving nearest competitors by several crores behind, Sanjay Gadhvi directed DHOOM 2 has rewritten history all over. The film has been a massive success and turned itself into a major franchise with 85 crores in its kitty and still counting.
From the snow-clad mountains of Switzerland and the golden beaches of Mauritius, Bollywood’s made its way to the tropical Brazil. After ‘Dhoom 2’, the first-ever Indian movie to be shot in Brazil, the country now gets its very first ever ‘Bollywood and Indian Film Festival’.
Many of India’s biggest Bollywood movies like ‘Dhoom 2’, ‘DDLJ’ and ‘The Terrorist’ will be screened in São Paulo during the film festival to be held from March 6 to 11.
FXLabs Studios, a leading provider of game development and outsourcing services, announced last Thursday that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Yashraj Film Studios to develop a PC game based on the popular action thriller Dhoom 2.
An industry first for Bollywood, this game will boast of international “AAA” production quality, and will set the standards for all Indian-Cinema based games in the future.
Bollywood reaped an American windfall in 2006 with its films making up half of 14 foreign language films that grossed more than $2 million in US — more than any other language.
That's still a pittance compared to the billion-dollar bonanza a single Hollywood movie can haul in, but the seven Hindi hits of 2006 in the US offered "another sign that India’s film industry is capturing broad, even global, appeal," Forbes magazine says in its latest issue.
After two excellent weeks at the box office, D2 did see a fall [50%], though of a kind that is on par with industry standards. With 11 crores coming in the third week, the film now stands at 68 crores and would already be the highest grosser ever by the time you read this report.
