Abhishek Bachchan follows father Amitabh Bachchan's footsteps and does a television stint with Colors' Bingo!

He talks about the show and his experience being on one of world's most famous chat show- The Oprah Winfrey Show.

We have seen such a type of show earlier on TV where Javed Jaffery was involved?
Yes, but this is the first time you can sit at home and play. It's a huge undertaking to provide as many tickets as possible to the audience and to make it interactive with the home viewing audience.

Why did you choose this game show as your television debut?
I was offered a lot of different shows but I chose this because I loved its format. The best part was that it’s a fun and interactive show. I can’t and wouldn’t want to do anything serious so this was just perfect.

Winning this game needs a lot of luck. How does lady luck normally treat you?
As actors we deal with luck on a day-to-day basis. I’ve always been told that being an actor requires one per cent talent, one per cent hard work and 98 per cent luck. My parents are my lucky charm.

Abhishek Bachchan who is making his debut on TV as a game show host with Idea National Bingo Night on Colors tells Jyothi Venkatesh in a candid chat that it was the idea of interacting live with his fans that prompted him to give nod to the show.

What prompted you to make your debut on TV with the game show “Idea National Bingo Night’?

The sheer simplicity of the idea borrowed from an International concept and the fact that this show is highly interactive is what attracted me to saying yes to the show. Winning here is easy, because you need not answer any difficult question or for that matter perform any strenuous physical tasks.

You’re making your debut on television as a host. You will be compared to your father, who created history on small screen. How do you feel about it?

I am getting tired of this constant comparison with Dad. Who doesn’t like to be compared to Amitabh Bachchan? He is the best of what we have and will have. As his son, it’s a great honor for me. Being his son this comparison is obvious. I never had a problem with this comparison. He has been on television and has created history. Nobody is going to be a bigger actor than him. Nobody can make a bigger mark in Indian cinema and world cinema than him, and achieve what he has achieved and I don’t intend to compete with my father. But you can’t allow that to pull you down.

What happens when you suddenly decide to meet Abhishek Bachchan in three hours? Firstly, it's almost impossible. Then, after some thought, you try and make it possible. I did the latter. Well, for starters, you need to be prepared to be the last one to interview him. That's exactly what happened.
