Actor Amitabh Bachchan has apologised for the alleged assault on mediapersons outside his bungalow on Saturday.
Three photo-journalists were allegedly attacked by security guards escorting a cavalcade carrying Bachchan’s newly wed son Abhishek and his wife Aishwarya outside the family bungalow, ‘Prateeksha’.
It has been dubbed Bollywood's wedding of the decade. The reigning king and queen of Indian cinema tied the knot on Friday in a private ceremony attended by a small group of billionaires, politicians and close family.
Following Hindu tradition in northern India, actor Abhishek Bachchan, 31, rode in on a white horse leading his wedding procession in Mumbai, before circling a fire to marry one of his leading ladies, Aishwarya Rai, 33.
It has been 48 hours since Abhishek and Aishwarya tied the knot. And yet the curiosity continues unabated.
We caught hold of a guest who attended the wedding ceremony at Amitabh Bachchan's Juhu bungalow, Pratiksha. The person reveals the inside story, "Nearly 200 members from Aishwarya's family stood at the entrance of Pratiksha with folded hands to welcome us. Although Ash's parents maintained an extremely low profile through the wedding, they made sure that all the baraatis were treated well," says our source.
Okay, so the big day is here. The most talked-about wedding of the decade is all set to take place this evening at around 5.30 pm, according to the mahurat fixed by Amitabh Bachchan's pundits, who have specially been flown down from Benares.
"No one knows that the actual bidaai ceremony will take place on April 21. The procession will go from La Mer to Abhishek's house, Pratiksha. The Bachchan doli is silver which will be used after the wedding. However, Aishwarya will travel on 21st morning in a red doli."
The Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai blockbuster union has the perfect Bollywood cast. From lead stars to the guest-list, the credits for their Friday wedding are ready to roll with designer dresses, special henna and flowers flown in from Kerala.
Wedding eve will see a lavish mehndi ceremony at the former Miss World's residence in Bandra. As has been the norm for all the events connected with the wedding of the year, only select guests have been invited for the occasion on Thursday evening.
The guests have started arriving at Prateeksha - the Bachchan residence in Mumbai's suburban Juhu - where the sangeet ceremony will take place.
Among the first to arrive were Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, Ajay Devgan and Kajol, Tina Ambani and Sahara chief Subroto Roy's younger son Seemanto.
Amitabh's younger brother Ajitabh arrived soon after with his family.
Karan Johar, who choreographed part of the Sangeet, planned a special grand finale where Aishwarya and Abhishek danced to the tunes of Kareena's latest item number 'It's Rocking' from Kya Love Story Hai.
"Karan liked the track so much that he wanted to use it as the grand finale track for the sangeet. The track, composed by Pritam, has already become very popular and Karan wanted to end the sangeet on a high note," says our source.
